X-Ray
On-site digital X-ray imaging services.
X-ray imaging uses a small amount of radiation to produce detailed images of bone, making it the first and most useful imaging test for most fractures, joint problems, and bone conditions. On-site digital X-ray means imaging and consultation can usually be completed in the same visit, without needing a separate appointment elsewhere.
Types
Standard X-Ray
A single or small set of views of the area of concern, used for most routine assessments.
Weight-Bearing X-Ray
Images taken while standing, used to assess joints under normal load, particularly useful for the knee and foot.
Comparison X-Ray
Imaging of the unaffected side alongside the affected one, useful for comparison in certain cases.
Follow-up X-Ray
Repeat imaging during treatment to monitor healing or alignment over time.
Common Causes
X-ray is typically the first imaging test used whenever a bone or joint problem is suspected, guiding the diagnosis and treatment plan.
- Suspected fracture following an injury.
- Joint pain or arthritis needing assessment of bone and joint space.
- Follow-up monitoring during fracture healing.
- Pre-surgical planning for joint replacement or other procedures.
- Unexplained bone pain needing initial evaluation.
Signs and Symptoms
- Pain, swelling, or deformity following an injury
- Persistent joint pain or stiffness
- A need to confirm healing progress after a fracture
- Any bone or joint concern where imaging would clarify the diagnosis
Diagnosis
The X-ray itself is quick and painless, with digital imaging available for immediate review during the same consultation, allowing findings to be discussed with the doctor right away.
Treatment Approach
X-ray results directly inform the treatment plan - confirming or ruling out a fracture, showing the extent of arthritis, or checking healing progress - and are reviewed together with the clinical examination to decide next steps.
